Personal Chef Service Terms & Conditions
Menu Planning and Proposals:
A Personal Chef from FoodZen will collaborate with you, the client, on a custom menu, 3-days before your cook-date based on the information provided in your client questionnaire. For quality control purposes, FoodZen asks that the client/personal chef correspondence be in writing via email. Proposed menus are to be approved 2-days before your cook-date. Failure to do so will be considered a last-minute cancellation (see cancellation fees below). Menu planning, correspondence and travel fees are included in the client’s day rate. Groceries will be an additional expense. The personal chef will provide the client with grocery receipts as proof of purchase. The client will reimburse FoodZen for groceries. All of the agreed-upon menu items are subject to change from the initial menu due to ingredient availability, quality, or other unforeseeable factors.
Scheduling:
Your FoodZen personal chef will promptly arrive at your home at the agreed-upon time on the agreed-upon dates. The personal chef will need full access to the cooking area for an estimated 3.5 to 6 hours depending on the number of meals being provided. Please make your home accessible to your personal chef on the scheduled cook dates. If for some reason, your personal chef cannot access your home (locks were changed, tricky pets, etc.) you will be charged as a last-minute cancellation and will be expected to reimburse for the cost of your groceries. Clients, children, pets and other distractions should be out of the kitchen area on all scheduled cook dates. We respectfully request that the client allow the personal chef to perform their professional services without interruption.
Cancellations:
Please provide 2 weeks of advanced notice if you choose to cancel a cook-date or discontinue your meal service. FoodZen realizes that not everything always goes to plan, therefore FoodZen allows for one "free pass" every 3 months for weekly clients, one "free pass” every 4 months for bi-weekly clients and one “free pass” every 6 months for monthly clients. If you fail to give proper notice to your personal chef, the day rate will be invoiced to you on the cancelled cook date. In lieu of cancelling, the personal chef could come and stock the freezer with frozen backup meals.
Vacation:
The client is entitled to 3 weeks of vacation per year and any cancellation fees during those vacation weeks will be waived. Please provide two weeks of advanced notice. The personal chef is entitled to 2 weeks of vacation per year. In lieu of cancelling your service, the personal chef could come on another agreed date OR stock the freezer with frozen backup meals OR the client can cancel during the personal chef’s vacation days, and any cancellation fees will be waived. Due to the demands of the holiday season, the personal chef will be unavailable for service from December 21, 2024, to January 6, 2025, and all fees will be waived.
Home Kitchens:
FoodZen personal chefs take great pride in their work and promise to respect you, your home and your equipment. Your personal chef will leave their workspace as clean as they found it, remove their personal equipment, and put away all leftover groceries. Please make sure your kitchen area is clean and ready for your personal chef on their scheduled cook date and that your meal containers are ready for use. If the kitchen does not meet basic health code standards (i.e. no running water, no electricity, etc.) the personal chef will prepare and store what they can, the client will be charged the day rate and will reimburse FoodZen for groceries.
Food Safety:
Your meals will be packaged and supplied with suggested reheating and serving instructions for your convenience. Although FoodZen tries its best, the instructions are subject to inaccuracies due to inconsistent oven temperatures, type of equipment, etc. FoodZen is not to be held liable if you choose to ignore common food safety practices by not storing, defrosting, reheating or using proper sanitation in regard to your meals.
Invoices and Accepted Payment Options:
Invoices and receipts are sent from FoodZen via email and are due 1-day after the invoice date. Cash, cheques to Destiny Moser and eTransfers to [email protected] are the accepted forms of payment. If you would like to pay with a credit card, a $15 processing fee will be added to your invoice.
